Media Coverage

Chad's Moose Jaw meeting was reported on both Global and CTV local evening news on Saturday, and on the radio news this morning (Sunday). The coverage was good and reporters referred to the rally at the end of the month. There were also several reports on Thursday about the SARM resolution.

This issue is well and truly established in the media's range of interest, Now we have to get as many people as possible out to the rally on the 27th. It is important to have a big crowd.

Many people who have become involved in this fight have told me that they have done things they have never done before, such as researching facts, writing letters to the editor and organizing local meetings. All this effort is time consuming, but it is essential to keep up the pressure on the school boards and the government.

The rally is the next step. March 27th in front of the Legislative Building at 12 Noon. Be there at least 10 or 15 minutes ahead of time and bring your neighbours!

One of our goals for the rally should be for every school to bring out at least forty people. If fifty schools brought forty each we would have a pretty good looking rally with 2000 people there.

It's unfortunate that only a select few showed up at the meeting in Moose Jaw. Best guess would be about 50 people, most of whom have been involved or attended our meetings from day 1. I am disappointed to see how little support turned out for this meeting. I realize several people had personal commitments, but I was expecting a much better turnout. This does not bode well to the public, when we had such broad media coverage to show that we are all in on this to make a change.

Thankfully, the media was there and are carrying our concerns to the rest of the public. Also a first, our local NDP MLA actually made an appearance, and seemed to take it all in and hopefully will do some action on this issue.

Here's hoping we have a better turnout for the rally at the leg!!
